Beer shop Nevejan developped two typical Belgium beers. Kerelsbier is a blond beer with a powerful hop bitterness. Poperings Nunnebier started as a carnival joke. A farmer of Poperinge, a café-owner and a marketeer organized a press conference and declared to launch a new beer to offer a counterweight for the succesful trappist beer from Westvleteren. The story appeared in every newspaper. Soon it was clear that is was a stunt from a carnival group. However, the demand for the non-existent beer was so great, that the beer was produced in June 2007. It’s a golden blonde beer, brewed with hops from Poperinge. The firm brewed beer until 1950, then the beer shop continued.
