Statue Ghybe
This statue (designed by L. De Gheus in 2005) refers to the cloth struggle between Poperinge and Ieper.
This satiric figure symbolises the 3 major cloth towns, Gent, Ieper and Brugge which governed the county of Flanders (the donkey) in an incorrect manner (Ghybe sits back-to-front) and tried to suppress stubborn Poperinge (the boulder). See also Boulder monument.
